BAMFEST 2018

A Collabortive Arts Festival

Andrew Williams & Darius Colquitt have a few things in common. They are both respected and eclectic artists within Grand Rapids Arts, working on numerous projects and productions around the West Michigan area as well as outside of the state. While Colquitt has made a name for himself through dozens of artistic venues in his hometown of Chicago, these days he’s creating buzz through his self-run artistic service entity, DARIUS COLQUITT & COMPANY, vowing to be the glue for any arts company. Williams makes a dozen moves between NYC, CHI, and here in GR where he serves as Artistic Director of another well-respected organization, Theater 616, now back from hiatus. TH616 marks its momentous returns with an amazing project, recognizing what it is that makes them & every West Michigan company the organizations they are: The Greater Grand Rapids community, at large.

Joining with DC & Company, TH616 relaunches with an Annual Collaborative Arts Festival. Each year, TH616 will select an artist/organization from the area to collaborate on the overall theme and production of the arts festival.

The theme selected for the 2018 CAF is the #BlkArtMatters Festival (or BAMFEST 2018).

Each night will feature a new art medium or type of performance, highlighting the rich radiance of the Black Diaspora available within West Michigan.
